After years of chronic tardiness, we can now say that Quebec is a leader on the international plane as far as Internet use is concenrned. This information is based on a study Netendances 2004, completed by CEFRIO and Léger marketing.
Based on this document (in 2005) 60% of adult Quebecois surf the Internet daily. This ranks us 11 amongts the 189 countries which the firm Internet World Stats studied. (The most recent statistics indicate that we are now at 72% in 2006)
The study also reveals that two thirds of the Qyebec households have high speed Internet, although the proportion is more important within urban centers.
Internet use at work has increased dramatically during the last year, going from 32% to 41% in May 2004, while e-commerce experienced an increase of 35% for the same period.
